Laser Hardening Solutions

Selectively harden wear-critical surfaces without distorting the core. Our Laser Transformation Hardening (LTH) delivers precise case depths, superior wear resistance, and a quench-free process — all in a single automated pass.

Key Process Points
  • KUKA robotic arm scans the laser beam over the component surface with precise speed and overlap control
  • Self-quenching process — rapid cooling through the bulk material eliminates need for oil or water quenching
  • Hardening depth of up to 1 mm achievable in a single pass
  • Applicable to Tool Steel, Alloy Steel, Carbon Steel, and Die Steel
  • Selective hardening possible — only the required surface zones are treated, leaving rest of component unaffected
  • Minimal component distortion compared to conventional flame or induction hardening
Typical Applications
  • Die and punch face hardening for stamping tools
  • Gear tooth flank hardening
  • Cam and crankshaft lobe hardening
  • Guide ways and machine tool sliding surfaces
  • Cutting edge hardening on press tools and blades

Notes : Surface hardness and depth depend on carbon content of the steel. Higher carbon steels (e.g., D2, H13 tool steels) achieve better hardness response. Post-process light grinding may be required.
